REACH
The EU Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006) concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) entered into force in June 2007.
REACH has several aims:
- To provide a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the use of chemicals.
- To make the people who place chemicals on the market (manufacturers and importers) responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated with their use.
- To allow the free movement of substances in the EU market.
- To enhance innovation in and the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry.
- To promote the use of alternative methods for the assessment of the hazardous properties of substances.
The majority of substances that are manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities exceeding 1 MT per year will need to be pre-registered and finally registered at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki, Finland.
Our policy is to be fully compliant with the new law. We therefore work closely with suppliers, customers and the trade associations of the industries we are active in. If you have any REACH-related questions or concerns on our products, please get in touch with us either via your contact at Alaska Metals AG or by emailing our REACH team at .
